Brittney & Brian

We initially met each other as teenagers through mutual friends in our hometown of Charlotte, NC. We also attended Winston-Salem State University, where we both graduated in 2009. Neither one of us recalls actually having a conversation with each other during college, but we participated in many of the same programs so we know our paths crossed. However, our story officially starts a few years after graduation. We both (loosely) agree the moment that started our friendship, began in the middle of the street in front of Club Platinum on a Saturday night of WSSU Homecoming in 2013. During the let-out, Brian was standing in the middle of the street, trying to remember where he parked his car. Brittney and her friends proceed to walk past Brian, and Brittney bumps into Brian (perhaps on purpose?) and says "Dang Brian, get out of the street!" followed by a smile. Over the next few years, we stayed in touch through social media, until April 2016 when Brian initiated a conversation through Facebook messenger with Brittney, which led to him eventually asking her out for lunch when he came into her area. We had our first date a few days later in Winston-Salem, NC at the Sweet Potato restaurant. Over the next few years, we did not allow the distance (Brittney in NC and Brian in VA) to keep us from staying in touch with each other. We made it a point to visit each other as time allowed. We would meet on random weekends at different restaurants in Raleigh, Durham and Richmond. We also made sure to visit each other when we were both home in Charlotte for the holidays. With this foundation laid, the stars finally aligned when in January of 2022, following a date night in Charlotte, we began to date officially.
